From the flea market to Le Bon Marché

Hi friends,

Yesterday was a beautiful day although it started out very cold. My friend Donna and I went early (for me) to the Vanves flea market because I'm looking for a rug for my new place. I'd love to bring the gorgeous rug that I have stored at my parent's house over instead, but I think it's cost prohibitive, and I figured the flea market would be a good place to look for a rug. And it was...for Donna. At least one of us got a good deal!

We stopped for a quick lunch then went somewhere else looking for my (as yet unlocated) rug then headed to La Grande Epicerie in search of cranberries. No luck. So we went next door to Le Bon Marché to dream. It's decorated in black and silver, and the Christmas section is gorgeous. I took a picutre of my favorite tree--the one decorated in cupcakes! I had to stop myself from loading up on ornaments that represented two of my favorite things:  cupcakes and penguins. Penguin ornaments! Too cute. There's nothing saying I won't go back.

After a fun day of shopping I had a great evening and a great dinner with friends I hadn't seen in months.

All in all a beautiful Saturday. So I'm thankful for a fun day with a friend and a fun evening with other friends, discovering a couple of new places to look for deals (I found a lavender sofa--yes, that's right--that I fell in love with, but it was sold...bummer), sleeping in a little this morning, and a low key, restful Sunday.

What about you? What are you grateful for today?

I took a picture of the cupcake tree, but it didn't come out so hot, so instead here's a picture of some of the ornaments close up. Cuteness.

bisous

  1. Last year I bought cranberries at the Monoprix in Montparnasse. That cupcake tree sounds adorable!

  2. Nice pic, Gina, of the ornaments!
I'm thankful for technology! This morning, my son and I are getting new cell phones. When I was a kid, my parents didn't have a phone. And, I remember when you had to crank up the phone, and talk on a "party" line! Wow! We've come such a long way!
I'm getting the new HTC Rezound. Hope it doesn't disappoint me!
    Bon soir, Gina!

  3. Jennifer - thanks for the tip! And the tree was adorable...you've gotta go check it out.

Tom - you are so right about technology! I remember saying, "one day there'll be phones in cars!" and that was a crazy thing to imagine at the time. :) I hope you enjoy your phone!
