Salut mes amis!
Happy Wednesday!
I hope all is well with you. Me, I'm in the middle of finishing up one semester and starting another. I have exams, journals, and reports to grade and five new classes to finish preparing for...my den is a mess. A friend came by yesterday and told me it looked like I was still moving in. This is actually the worst time in the school year, and I am feeling the stress. (Not being the least bit appreciated is another element contributing to the stress, but I will avoid complaining since this isn't the place for it.)
In spite of all this, I had a little bright spot in the day yesterday when my new washing machine was delivered...and in record time. Seriously, those guys were in and out with the washer installed and the mandatory first cycle started in under 15 minutes. If Nascar ever comes to France, Darty delivery guys oughta become race car mechanics.
As you might imagine, I am grateful for my new washer and the fact that I can stay home to do laundry now (and for less money). I'm also grateful for my good friend Donna who is trying to help me stress less over this school and its students. I'm grateful that I'm almost halfway through the school year (and after that, have about 6 months before the next one starts), and in spite of the stress and frustration, I'm thankful for the work and dependable income. I am also hugely thankful for my professional clients with whom I actually enjoy working. More please!!!
So, here is my lovely new washer. Exciting, non? ;)
bisous

When you are done with the semester you will have to have a party-- my mom taught me that laundry machines make great "beer buckets." Just gotta find ice...
ReplyDeleteQuelle petite! I kept a Simple Abundance journal (Sarah ban Breathnach, as seen on Oprah) and always included my laundry and kitchen appliances as reasons for which to be grateful. I get to spend my time CARING for my family, doing creative things that inspire me, volunteering, and working (when available, oi vey) because appliances keep me out of the river with a washboard and out of the woods with a hatchet. Lugging laundry and wasting time in a laundromat, even with a view of the Eiffel Tower, had to be a drag. Congratulations on your purchase and for rising a level on Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs. Bon jour, Gina! :-)
ReplyDeleteA end of semester party is a fabulous idea! Now for the ice...McDo? ;)
ReplyDeleteJan, you are so right! But I have to admit that I have always had a washer up until mid-December, so I only made two trips to the laundry mat...still, it wasn't exactly the best way to spend my hours. :)
